South African Raven Klaasen teamed up with Leander Paes in the Men’s Doubles final but were unfortunately not able to lift the trophy after going down to Yen-Hsun Lu and Jonathan Marray 6-3 7-6(4).
In Auckland, Venus Williams defeated Caroline Wozniacki 2-6 6-3 6-3 to claim the ASB Classic title.
In the Hopman Cup, The USA faced Poland in the final. Agnieszka Radwanska defeated Serena Williams 6-4 6-7(3) 6-1. John Isner then levelled the score with a 7-6(10) 6-4 win over Jerzy Janowicz. In the last match of the day, Radwanska and Janowicz teamed up to defeat Isner and Williams 7-5 6-3 ensuring Poland’s first Hopman Cup title.
Highlight of the week – After being bagelled in the first set of her opening Hopman Cup round robin match, a jet lagged Serena Williams requested an espresso which helped boost her to victory.
