Novak outmuscles Roger for his third Wimbledon title

The defending champion and World No. 1, Novak Djokovic claimed his third Wimbledon title today when he defeated the second seed and seven-time champion, Roger Federer 7-6(1) 6-7(10) 6-4 6-3 in two hours and 56 minutes on a packed Centre Court.

Federer, who had the early advantage, failed to capitalise on two break points to clinch the first set, which then went to a tiebreak that was dominated and won by Djokovic. Federer managed to fight back in the second set which also ended up in a tiebreak, this time going the way of the former seven-time champion.

Rain temporarily halted play in the third set. Djokovic, who was up at the time, returned to the court unfazed and continued to dominate the next two sets, denying Federer a record eight titles.
