Kvitova, Wozniacki and Svitolina in cruise control

The eighth seed, Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic was given a breather after her tough first round match, when she managed to see off Lara Arruabarrena of Spain in two sets, 6-0 6-4 on Court 1 at the French Open today.

Kvitova is now scheduled to play Anett Kontaveit of Estonia on Friday. The 25th seeded Kontaveit, defeated Alexandra Dulgheru of Romania, 7-5 6-2 today.

The second seed, Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark wasted no time in cruising past Georgina García Perez of Spain, 6-1 6-0. 

Wozniacki now awaits the outcome of the all French clash between Alize Cornet and Pauline Parmentier, which is currently underway on Court Suzanne Lenglen. Cornet took the first set tie-break with both players neck-on-neck in the second set.

The fourth seed, Elina Svitolina from the Ukraine, saw off the Slovakian player, Viktória Kuzmova, 6-3 6-4 to set up a third round clash against Mihaela Buzărnescu of Romania, who earlier defeated Rebecca Peterson of Sweden, 6-1 6-2.

Sloane Stephens, Madison Keys and Naomi Osaka also advanced today.
