AB De Villiers blasts RCB into the IPL T20 Final

AB De Villiers blasted an unbeaten 79 runs off 47 balls today to send the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to the final of the IPL T20.

RCB won the toss and elected to field first against their opponents, Gujarat Lions. Gujarat Lions notched up 158 in their allotted 20 overs with Dwayne Smith scoring 73 runs off 41 balls. Shane Watson faired the best of the RCB bowlers by taking 4 wickets for 29 runs.

The Challengers then went in to bat and were soon in deep trouble when Captain, Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, Lokesh Rahul, Shane Watson and Sachin Baby were all back in the dugout with the score on 29/5.

De Villiers, who came in at No. 3, was then joined by Stuart Binny who scored 21 runs before being bowled lbw by Jadeja and ultimately helped by Iqbal Abdulla who scored an unbeaten 33 runs. RCB scored 159/6 with 10 balls remaining in their innings.

Dhawal Kulkarni gave a fantastic bowling display for the Gujarat Lions, not only scalping Kohli and Gayle but ending the match on 4 wickets for 14 runs.

AB De Villiers must be thanking his lucky stars for helmets because after the match, he was literally stormed upon by his teammates and with the impact, his helmet went flying and he could’ve done some serious damage to his neck. Let’s hope he is okay as he momentarily looked a bit shaken.
