World No. 1 and top seed, Angelique Kerber from Germany continued her good form, when she disposed of Madison Keys from the USA, 6-3 6-3 in just over an hour, during their round-robin match at the WTA Finals in Singapore today.

Going into the match, Kerber already knew that following Simona Halep’s exit earlier, she had already qualified for the semi-finals. Keys on the other hand, had to win a set in order to join Kerber, otherwise the spot would go to Dominika Cibulkova.

Keys trademark power serve did not show up today as she only managed a 61% first serve success rate and failed to blast any aces past Kerber. As with her opening match against Halep, Keys battled to settle her nerves as the big stage seemed to get the better of her this week.

Kerber didn’t produce a flawless performance either but as we’ve seen before, her victories aren’t always pretty, but she gets the job done in the end.
