The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) notched up the lowest total in IPL history, when they were bowled out for just 49 runs in 9.4 overs by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata today.

The visiting RCB captain, Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Sunil Narine faired the best for the home team, scoring 34 runs off 17 balls. He was supported by the captain, Gautam Gambhir (14), Pandey (15), Yadav (15) and Woakes (18). KKR were all bowled out for 131 runs in 19.3 overs. 

Chahal (3), Negi (2) and Mills (2) were the best bowlers for the RCB.

Today, four years ago, RCB opener, Chris Gayle scored his record breaking 175 runs off 66 balls against the Pune Warriors, and with the extremely strong Top 4 batsmen lineup in the RCB team, the run chase seemed like a walk in the park.

Unfortunately for the visitors, fortune often favours the brave and a low total is at the best of times deceptive.

The KKR speedsters, headed by Nathan Coulter-Nile (3/21), Chris Woakes (3/6) and Colin de Grandhomme (3/4) ripped through the RCB batting lineup. Man of the Match, Coulter-Nile not only dismissed captain Kohli and AB De Villiers, he also got the very important wicket of Chris Gayle, off the bowling of Chris Woakes.

None of the RCB batsmen managed to score double figures.

This is only the second time in the history of the IPL that both teams have been bowled out during a match.

After 7 games a piece, KKR are now second on the log with 10 points, trailing the current leaders, Mumbai Indians by 2 points. RCB, Delhi Daredevils and the Gujarat Lions are tied on 4 points each at the bottom of the log.
