The 2014 Australian Open Men’s final will be contested between Rafael Nadal of Spain and Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland.
Rafael Nadal Stanislas Wawrinka
Rafael Nadal (27) is ranked No. 1 and Stanislas Wawrinka (28) is ranked No. 8 for this tournament.
Rafael Nadal has won 13 Grand Slam tournaments and one Gold medal.
This will be Stanislas Wawrinka’s first Grand Slam final. He has won an Olympic Gold medal for doubles.
Should Rafael Nadal win, he will equal Pete Sampras’ record of 14 Grand Slam titles.
Nadal has once again showed that despite injuries and setbacks, he will chase down anything on a tennis court and never give up until the last point is played. As the underdog, the Stanimal as he is now called, will need to produce another Djokovic type match winning performance if he is to have any chance of beating the Spaniard.
