The weather was not much cooler, but today seemed like a walk in the park for most of the players.

Serena Williams needed just 63 minutes to send Serbian Vesna Dolonc packing with a comprehensive 61 62 victory and in doing so equalled Margaret Court’s record of 60 match wins at the Australian Open in the Open era.

The younger Williams sister looks destined to add another trophy to her collection.

South African Kevin Anderson needed three sets to end Australian Dominic Thiem’s chances of advancing with a 64 63 64 victory.  South African born Australian player Matthew Ebden lost in four sets to Vasek Pospisil 63 67 67 16.

Some surprise exits on Day 3 were Kirsten Flipkens, Sabine Lisicki and Mikhail Youzhny.
