Serving up some confidence

With the first Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open just two days away, some players have certainly been serving up some confidence with tournament victories over the past two weeks.

Hopman Cup – won by France.  Jo-Wilfried Tsonga certainly dominating proceedings.

Shenzhen Open – Li Na defeated Peng Shuai 64 75.  Will it be third time lucky for the popular Chinese player?

Brisbane ATP – Lleyton Hewitt defeated Roger Federer 61 46 63 in a gripping final.  Hewitt ended last year on a high by being awarded the prestigious Newcombe Medal for his performance, especially during the latter part of 2013.  Rumours have been circulating around for the past two years that he may retire, but no signs of that yet.

Brisbane WTA – Serena Williams defeated Victoria Azarenka 64 75.  Williams is continuing her great form and is understandably looking to lift the trophy in two weeks time.

Qatar ATP – Rafael Nadal defeated Gael Monfils 61 67(5) 62

Chennai Open – Stanislas Wawrinka defeated Edouard Roger-Vasselin 75 62

Sydney ATP – Juan Martin del Potro defeated Bernard Tomic 63 61.  Tomic may be going from bad to worse as he will face Rafael Nadal in the first round of the Australian Open.

Sydney WTA – Unseeded Tsevetana Pironkova stunned 5th seed Angelique Kerber 64 64 to win her first title.

Auckland ATP – John Isner defeated Lu Yen-hsun 76 76

Hobart WTA – Garbine Muguruza defeated Klara Zakopalova 64 60
