The New Zealand All Blacks trounced the Springboks in an embarassing and record breaking 57-15 defeat at the Growthpoint Kings Park Rugby stadium in Durban today.

To quote Joel Stransky, it was a “Masterclass” performance by the current Rugby Championship champions, who notched up nine tries, including two a piece for Israel Dagg, Beauden Barrett and TJ Perenara, as well as six conversions.

All the Boks points came off the boot of Morne Steyn.

The Springboks showed improvement from last week’s match against Australia and managed to limit the champions’ lead at half-time to 12-9. Unfortunately for the Boks, the All Blacks ran riot in the second half and despite two potential breaks by Willie Le Roux and Damian De Allende, the Boks were solidly outplayed in all aspects of the game.

The All Blacks have now won 17 consecutive test matches and if they beat Australia in their Bledisloe Cup match on 22 October, they will hold the record.

The South African public and rugby experts have not reacted kindly to the Boks performance of late and unless Allister Coetzee and his men can produce a miracle, we’re in for a very gloomy rest of the season.

Needless to say, it was a disappointing farewell for Springbok captain, Adriaan Strauss, who played his last test match on South African soil today. He will be retiring at the end of the season.
