The Williams sister, Halep and Radwanska all through to the fourth round

Williams is now tied with Roger Federer on 307 match wins, with Martina Navratilova’s having recorded 306.

Her opponent in the fourth round will be Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan, who defeated Shuai Zhang of China, 6-2 7-5.

Older sister, Venus Williams, continued her good run with a 6-1 6-2 victory over Laura Siegemund of Germany and will now meet Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic, who defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia, 6-2 6-4.

Simona Halep of Romania had a tough three set match to defeat Timea Babos of Hungary, 6-1 2-6 6-4 and will now meet Spain’s Carla Suárez Navarro, who defeated Elena Vesnina of Russia 6-4 6-3.

Agnieszka Radwanska continued her fine form with a 6-2 6-3 win over Caroline Garcia of France and will now meet Ana Konjuh of Croatia, who defeated Varvara Lepchenko of America, 6-3 3-6 6-2.
