South African, Kevin Anderson and the defending champion and World No. 1, Novak Djokovic from Serbia, are involved in a battle of note.
The first and second sets both went down to tie-breaks with Anderson narrowly edging out the Serb. The difference between the players was Anderson’s control and serving 22 aces versus Djokovic’s 6.
The third and fourth sets were a different story though. Anderson appeared to have put so much effort into the first two sets that he briefly lost concentration, which was all that Djokovic needed to fight back. Djokovic totally dominated the third set and despite Anderson regaining some of his composure, Djokovic managed to close out the fourth set.
The match will resume tomorrow with the score at 7-6 7-6 6-1 6-4.
