The reality of the moment seemed to have hit home after she beat the 8th seed, Timea Bacsinszky 7-5 6-2 on Court Suzanne Lenglen today.

And her reward for playing some of her best tennis – a semi-final clash against Serena Williams on Friday.

Bertens has luckily tasted some success in 2016 already, winning both the Singles and Doubles titles in Nuremburg and will be hoping that Serena’s taxing match against Yulia Putintseva and the saying “the fortune favours the brave”, will work in her favour on Friday.
