With Day 2 of Wimbledon still underway, seven-time champion, Roger Federer hardly built up a sweat in defeating Damir Dzumhur 6-1 6-3 6-3.

Third seeded Scot and local favourite, Andy Murray was made to work in his 6-4 7-6 6-4 win over Mikhail Kukushkin from Kazahstan. Murray stepped on to Centre Court to a standing ovation from the home crowd. This did not faze Kukushkin, who showed little sign of nerves in the first set. Murray however managed to get the break when Kukushkin was serving to stay in the set. The second set started off well for Murray but then the mistakes started creeping in and the Kazakh took full advantage, forcing a tie break. Murray managed to dig deep and eventually took the set. Despite Kukushkin still playing consistently in the third set, Murray was too strong and closed off the match.

Rafael Nadal, seeded 10th this year, recorded a relatively easy 6-4 6-2 6-4 win over Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil. The Spaniard, who has battled with his form in recent times, looked good on the grass court.

Jo-Wilfred Tsonga, Gilles Simon, Gael Monfils and Feliciano Lopez also advanced.
