Two days after surviving a scare against Dominika Cibulkova, Top seed, Angelique Kerber bounced back with a comprehensive win against the third seed, Simona Halep in their second round match at the WTA Finals in Singapore today.
Kerber didn’t waste any time breaking Halep’s serve in the first set, and with her blistering forehand returns, Halep was struggling. Halep’s only hope was to keep Kerber on the baseline and claw her way back, which she managed to do, but Kerber just played a game of patience, eventually causing Halep to unravel, which allowed Kerber to serve out the set.
Kerber went on to dominate the second set and despite a valiant effort by Halep, the World No. 1 was resilient and served out to advance to the next round with a 6-4 6-2 win.
