Madison Keys may have felt strange after she lost her first round match to Simona Halep at the WTA Finals in Singapore on Sunday, but the nerves that were bothering her had clearly been settled by the time she walked onto the court to face Dominika Cibulkova in their second round match today.

Keys was on song and showed exactly why she had qualified as one of the Top 8 players for this prestigious tournament.

Despite getting 81% of her first serves in during the first set, Cibulkova had little answer to Keys as the American managed to suppress Cibulkova’s blistering forehand shots with an array of her own forehand and backhand winners.

In the second set, Cibulkova showed signs of the tenacious play that she had displayed against Angelique Kerber on Sunday, but Keys managed to have the final say, got the crucial break and went on to win the match, 6-1 6-4.
