Mixed emotions for Vika, Petra, Ana and Serena

Former World No. 1, Victoria Azarenka, gave birth to a baby boy on 20 December.

Although the Belarus tennis star has not given any indication of when she will be returning to the tour, she did post a photo on Twitter with the caption “👶Leo getting familiar with Mommy work place🎾will be spending quite a bit of time here😂”

Current World No. 11, Petra Kvitova’s year did not end off on a good note, when she was attacked by an intruder at her home. The popular Czech player was stabbed in her racquet playing hand when she tried to defend herself and had to undergo surgery. She will be off for at least six months, but so far so good, it looks as though a full recovery is on the cards!

One of the beauties of the tennis world, Serbia’s Ana Ivanovic, has announced her retirement after spending the past 13 years as a professional tennis player. The 29 year old, who married Manchester United midfielder, Bastian Schweinsteiger, this year, was an Australian Open finalist and a French Open winner, both in 2008.

Former tennis great, Chris Evert, posted the following tribute to Ivanovic on social media “That smile, that grace, that forehand, that class….Ana Ivanovic … Tennis will miss you… BUT, what a rich life you have ahead of you!!!”

Current World No. 2 and one of the most celebrated tennis players of all times, Serena Williams has gotten engaged to Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian in Rome.
