Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray kept their title hopes alive with victories today. Grigor Dimitrov also advanced after defeating Roberto Bautisto-Agut, another fourth round debutant.

Whereas Dimitrov came out victorious, his girlfriend Maria Sharapova was not as lucky! The 26 year old, 6 ft 2 tennis queen was ousted by the 24 year old, 5 ft 3 Slovakian tennis player Dominika Cibulkova 36 64 61. Sharapova received treatment between the second and third sets for a hip injury. Sharapova hit 27 winners versus Cibulkova’s 16 but it was the 45 errors versus 28 that hurt her game the most. Even though Sharapova was battling with the injury she was beaten by a better player today.

With Sharapova out, Victoria Azarenka looks set to progress to the final and must now certainly be the favourite to win her third Australian Open title. She is the only past Australian Open Ladies champion left in the draw and despite an exchange of body blows, she rallied past Sloane Stephens in two sets. In other action, Simona Halep defeated Jelena Jankovic and Agnieszka Radwanska defeated Garbine Muguruza.
