It’s been a testing French Open so far, with rain dominating the proceedings during this year’s tournament.

World No. 1, Novak Djokovic has had his far share of it, having played his third straight day of tennis today and weather permitting, will be on court again tomorrow. All in a fortnight’s work for more milestones – to win his maiden French Open title and to clinch all four Grand Slam titles in a row, starting with Wimbledon last year.

In quarter-final action today, Djokovic managed to score his 22nd win over Tomas Berdych on Court Philippe Chatrier. The score was 6-3 7-5 6-3. It was not all plain sailing for the top seed, who had to endure another rain delay during the match.

For a spot in the Final, he will have to get past the 22 year old Austrian and 13th seed, Dominic Thiem, who has had quite a successful 2016 so far, winning the Nice Open and being runner-up in Munich. Thiem needed four sets to send David Goffin of Belgium home, 4-6 7-6(7) 6-4 6-1 and should be a formidable competitor for Djokovic, with clay being his favourite surface.

The other semi-final should be a closely fought contest between the 2nd seed, Andy Murray and the defending champion and 4th seed, Stan Wawrinka. Both players have been involved in long matches during this fortnight. They have played each other 15 times with Murray having won 8 of the matches. Wawrinka has won their last three matches. It should prove to be the match of the day.
