Former U.S. Army Ranger, Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) was the lead Secret Service agent for the Presidential Detail until an unfortunate accident claimed the life of the President’s wife (Ashley Judd).  Eighteen months later, he is working at the Treasury Department when Korean-led guerrilla forces, masterminded by Kang Yeonsak (Rick Yune) carry out an air and ground attack to capture the White House.

Banning decides to join the White House defenders in order to help save lives, especially those of President Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart) and his son, Connor Asher (Finley Jacobsen), with whom he had a very close relationship when he was part of the Presidential Detail.

Once in, he manages to implement several measures in order to have contact with Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman), who is the Speaker of the House, and also the Acting President, as well as to disable Kang’s communications.

As time is running out and several White House members and the public have already lost their lives, is he the one man who can stop Kang’s quest and save America?
