The Sessions

The Sessions

The Sessions (originally called “The Surrogate”) is a movie based on an article by Mark O’Brien called “On seeing a Sex Surrogate”.

O’Brien (John Hawkes), who is forced to live in an iron lung due to complications from polio, falls in love and proposes to one of his caregivers, Amanda, who turns him down.  He senses that he is near death and would like to lose his virginity.  After consulting his priest, Father Brendan (William H. Macy), he gets in touch with Cheryl Cole-Greene (Helen Hunt) who is a professional sex surrogate.

She agrees to six sessions, but after it becomes clear that they are developing feelings for one another it changes their situation.

A real heart-warming movie that makes one appreciate what we have and what we just take for granted.

Helen Hunt bared all for this movie and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance.
