Yesterday was the third ODI between the Proteas and Australia in Durban and if there’s one thing that we’ve learnt from Australian sportsmen and women, they just don’t give up, so when the Aussies posted 371/6 in their allotted 50 overs, with David Warner top scoring on 117 and being well supported by Aaron Finch on 53 and captain, Steve Smith on 108, we all knew the Proteas were in for a difficult run chase.

Dale Steyn and Imran Tahir both picked up two wickets each for the Proteas.

Hashim Amla opened the Proteas batting with Quinton De Kock and they got off to a good start. Amla was eventually out for 45 and De Kock for 70.

The match however, soon started swinging in Australia’s favour when the Proteas lost Du Plessis, Rossouw, Duminy and Pretorius, who all only managed to score 86 runs.

But David Miller (not out on 118 runs off 79 balls) and Andile Phehlukwayo (not out on 42 runs off 39 balls) produced a magic 7th wicket partnership of 107 runs to see the Proteas home with a record score of 372/6 at the Kingmead ground, and in doing so, clinched the series with two matches to go.

John Hastings was again the best bowler for the Aussies with two wickets.
