The sun has finally set on a disappointing Springbok rugby season

At last, the Springbok rugby supporters have something to “smile” about as the very disappointing rugby season has finally come to an end.

In their final 2016 Outgoing tour match played at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff today, the Boks woes continued when Wales defeated them 27-13.

This means that the Boks have only won 4 of their 13 test matches played in 2016 and were lucky to scrape a draw against the Barbarians.

One has to feel for the Bok captain, Adriaan Strauss, a dedicated servant of South African rugby, who would’ve wished for a better way to bow out of Test rugby.

So, while the board members, selectors, coaching staff and players (whoever may be left over after the sword has been drawn) go back to the drawing board, and the rugby supporters recover from their period of mourning, let’s not forget that we are building a new team and with that comes several highs and lows along the way.

Maybe a friendly reminder for us all – cricket supporters were calling for the Proteas coach, Russell Domingo to be sacked and now that the Proteas have gelled and with it, defeated the mighty Aussies in the ODI and Test series, we’re glad that Cricket South Africa stuck with him.
