The Titans clinch the Ram Slam title in style

The Unlimited Titans have won the Ram Slam T20 title by beating the Sunfoil Dolphins by 7 wickets at a packed Supersport Park in Centurion last night.

The local team dominated the entire tournament, having only lost two matches on their way to the final.

With international players like Kevin Pietersen and Dwayne Bravo, and the inclusion of Proteas players, Kyle Abbott and Imran Tahir, the Dolphins looked the stronger team on paper but the local lads were not intimidated and despite a few hiccups along the way, gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about.

Dolphins openers, Morne Van Wyk and Jonathan Vandiar got off to a good start, Kevin Pietersen didn’t manage to set the stage alight and was dismissed for just 10 runs. David Miller and Dwayne Bravo managed to steady the ship with Bravo notching up a quick 53 runs off 30 balls before being caught by Chris Morris off David Wiese’s bowling. David Wiese was the best of the Titans bowlers claiming 2/28. The Dolphins scored 159/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

The day belonged to Mosehle

For the Titans, opening batsman, Quinton De Kock only managed to score 12 runs in his 100th T20 match. Fellow opener, Henry Davids, scored 35 runs off 38 balls, but the night ultimately belonged to the 25 year old Mangaliso Mosehle, who set Supersport Park alight by scoring 87 runs off 39 balls, a performance that gained him praise from both teams, an appreciative crowd and also secured the title for the Titans. The Titans scored 161/3 with the winning runs fittingly being scored by their captain, Albie Morkel.

Titans CEO, Jacques Faul could not contain his excitement during the post match interview. He, alongside coach, Rob Walter, have certainly set the Titans on the right track and the future is looking bright for the boys in blue.
