Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams continued their fine form in advancing on Day 4.
Djokovic beat Paul Mathieu 6-1 6-3 6-0 whilst Serena Williams hardly broke into a sweat when beating fellow American Vania King 6-1 6-0.
Andy Murray, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Petra Kvitova, Victoria Azarenka and Eugenie Bouchard all recorded wins.
Lady luck was unfortunately not smiling on the 8th seeded Serbian, Ana Ivanovic as her good form came to a sudden halt at the hands of Czech Karolina Pliskova. The Czech player did not have to do much as Ivanovic’s game fell apart. Her serve let her down and combined with a string of unforced errors, it was a match that she would like to forget. Pliskova won 7-5 6-4.
2011 Ladies Champion Samantha Stosur suffered a shock defeat to unseeded Estonian Kaia Kanepi 6-3 3-6 6-7 (8-10). Stosur squandered her match point opportunities n the third set tiebreaker and was unable to recover. Back to the drawing board for the Australian who just cannot seem to get her BMT under control.
