It was business as usual for the players on Day 6. The weather was cooler which helped the playing conditions.

In the Men’s draw, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Kei Nishikori, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Grigor Dimitrov all advanced.

The ladies draw provided more action today though.

Maria Sharapova had a tough match against Alize Cornet. Victoria Azarenka who currently looks to be the player to challenge Serena Williams for the title had an easy win over Yvonne Meusburger. Jelena Jankovic, Agnieszka Radwanska and Simona Halep also advanced.

Caroline Wozniacki played against Spain’s Garbine Muguruza, who recently won her first title in Hobart. Wozniacki didn’t do much wrong but the 20 year old Muguruza held her nerve to win the match 46 75 63. Muguruza who is coached by former Wimbledon champion Conchita Martinez certainly looks to have a very bright and successful tennis career ahead of her.
