Shuai Peng from China captured her first title today, when she defeated Alison Riske from America 7-6 (3) 6-2 to win the Tianjin Open in China.

Peng, who has been plagued by injuries, was a wildcard entrant for the tournament.

Both players started the day off with tough three-set semi-final matches. Peng defeated Danka Kovinic of Montenegro 3-6 7-5 6-3 and Riske defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia 6-4 5-7 6-4.

Despite the loss, Riske was very upbeat about her season, which saw her ending in the top 50.
