In a match that was worthy of a World Cup T20 final, the underdogs, West Indies stunned the hosts, India by beating them by 7 wickets with just 2 balls to spare at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai earlier this evening.

West Indies won the toss and elected to bowl first.

India notched up 192/2 in their allotted 20 overs with all four batsmen contributing to the score. Virat Kohli was again the Master Blaster entertainer for the Indians, scoring 89 runs off just 47 balls, which included 11 fours and 1 six.

The West Indies then came in to bat and the much awaited Chris Gayle show did not happen as he was bowled by Jasprit Bumrah with his score on 5. When Marlon Samuels departed with the score on 19/2, it seemed as though the hosts were through to the final, but Johnson Charles (52), Andre Russell (43 not out) and Man of the Match Lendl Simmons (82 not out) ensured that the “Calypso Kings” scored 196/3 and in doing so, will do battle against England in Sunday’s final at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

One has to feel for the hosts who missed out on three wicket chances – two catches being disallowed by no balls being bowled and a third catch disallowed when Jadeja’s foot touched the boundary cushion before he could toss the ball up for Kohli to claim the catch.
